What are the expenses of a funeral?

Depending on the wishes expressed by your loved one and the final decision made by the family, funeral expenses may vary.

Certain costs exist that should be met on a mandatory basis, whilst others are optional. The total expenditure will, of course, depend on the rates of the funeral services requested, and also on other factors such as geographical ones.

Costs of a compulsory funeral service

In Spain, the rules on funeral services depend on the autonomous communities and local entities, so that administrative expenses must be added to those basic expenses that are typical of a funeral, that is, the fees regulated by the corresponding by-laws, death certificates, administrative procedures, and others.

The best thing is to contract a funeral company to take care of all the procedures, and will include the fees in their funeral services.
